Welcome to Color the Sea‘s community pronunciation guide! Because Color the Sea is a story featuring words and names from many cultures and languages that I, as the author, have no personal connection to, I’ve decided to create this page instead of attempting to write a pronunciation guide myself. Here, readers can submit audio recordings of themselves pronouncing words/names from the story that are from a culture they belong to or a language they speak!

Rules

• Send your voice recordings to either crownsofthesky@gmail.com or @crownsofthesky on Instagram (DM). They should be only a few seconds long and should not contain anything other than the word or name you are pronouncing. They can be in any format as long as I’m able to access it. If I can’t access it, I’ll contact you back!
• Along with your recording, please write the word or name that you are pronouncing, and why you believe your pronunciation is accurate (i.e. if you’re a native speaker of the language it comes from, or you grew up in the country/region it’s from).
• If you would like, you can also include your name, which will be listed on this page to credit you, but this is optional.
